The choice of materials and colours is a fundamental aspect of our creative process. It is not only a question of aesthetics, but also of function, durability and the impact that these elements will have on the atmosphere created by the lamp. For each project, we seek to find a perfect balance between the beauty of the design and the practical aspect of manufacturing, while respecting the environment. In the case of this current series of lamps, the choice of plexiglass (acrylic glass) is the result of a thorough reflection on these aspects.
The choice of plexiglass (Acrylic Glass): a versatile and durable material
Plexiglas is a material that has seduced us for several reasons. First, it is an extremely versatile material that allows great creative freedom. We particularly love it for its ability to offer an infinite range of colours and finishes, ranging from opaque shades to translucent colours, from matte effects to bright renderings. It has this unique ability to capture and diffuse light, creating plays of shadows and fascinating reflections, which is essential in the creation of luminaires.
In addition, thanks to modern machining technologies, the machining of plexiglass has become relatively easy, which allows us to work with more complex shapes and precise details. The ability to cut, engrave and shape this material with such precision gives us total freedom to imagine creations that are as original as they are functional. This ease of machining also makes it possible to produce small limited series with a high quality of finish, while reducing waste.
Another aspect that is important to us is that the plexiglass we use is often made from recycled plastics. We are very sensitive to the environmental impact of the materials we use, and recycled plexiglass allows us to combine aesthetics, innovation and ecological responsibility. It is a way for us to contribute to the reduction of plastic waste while creating sustainable and quality objects.
The assembly of colours: Laetitia’s vision
The choice of colours is always a key step in the design of our lamps, and this is where Laetitia plays a central role. His passion for colourful harmonies and his keen sense of visual associations are essential to achieving combinations that are not only beautiful, but also consistent with the atmosphere we want to create. Each lamp is a palette, a composition where each colour has a reason for being, whether to bring softness, energy or contrast.
In this first collection, we wanted to offer a sufficiently wide and varied range of colours so that there is something for everyone. Brighter and more energising shades such as oranges, yellows and vibrant blues, with more subtle tones. The idea was to allow everyone to find a lamp that integrates harmoniously into their interior, while giving it a unique touch of character.
We believe that colour has a strong emotional power. Depending on the associations, it can completely transform a room. A blue and yellow lamp will bring a touch of energy and dynamism to a living room or office, while a lamp with softer shades will create a more soothing and cosy atmosphere. We have therefore taken care to choose colours that go well with each other, while remaining distinct enough to offer a complete range. The idea is to allow each user to personalise his space, to choose a lamp that expresses his mood, his style.
The creation of the palette: from dream to reality
The process of creating the colour palette often begins with a moment of personal reflection. Laetitia is inspired by what she sees around her, whether in nature, in current trends, in architecture or in works of art. She observes the combinations of colours that seem interesting to her, those that arouse a particular emotion or that trigger a memory. Once this source of inspiration has been found, it is a matter of transposing it into a modern context, giving it a new life and adapting it to Tilt’s universe.
Colour is also a tool that makes it possible to structure space. For each lamp, we think not only about the colour of the base, but also how it blends with the light it emits. A lamp can be monochrome, but we also like to play with two-colour or multi-coloured effects to create visual intensity and bright movement. Plexiglas allows you to create colour overlays, subtle shades that appear or disappear depending on the angle of view or the intensity of the light, thus offering a constantly evolving visual experience.
The evolution of the collections: towards new combinations
It is certain that this first collection is only the beginning. We are already thinking about new colour combinations. We love the idea that our creations evolve according to new inspirations. We are also thinking of more subtle, refined and minimal combinations, for more refined spaces, while bringing a touch of lightness and elegance.
The process of choosing materials and colours is a creative adventure where every decision is guided by the desire to reconcile aesthetics and functionality. Plexiglas is a material that allows us to unleash all our imagination, while remaining responsible. Colours, on the other hand, are a real tool of expression, and each association chosen is designed to arouse an emotion, create an atmosphere, and above all offer our customers a unique object, both personal and functional.
We can’t wait to see where these inspirations will lead us in our next collections, because each project is a new exploration, a new field of experimentation where materials and colours are at the service of emotion and innovation.
